Spring Thing 2016
Teens To Trails had a fantastic end to the school year for the 3rd annual Spring Thing Weekend in partnership with Adventure Bound. Over 70 students and advisors from Outing Clubs across the state joined in on the weekend of camping, hiking, biking, canoeing, rafting, service projects, and more. This year, the Outing Clubs in attendance included Ellsworth, John Bapst, Mt. Ararat, Wiscasset, Mt. Desert Island, Skowhegan and Cheverus. Saturday’s activities included Paddle-boarding the Kennebec with the Bowdoin Outing Club, hiking Pleasant Pond Mountain, trail work at Grand Falls Hut with Maine Huts & Trails as well as a canoe excursion with Maine Path & Paddle Guides. Saturday afternoon was beautiful and we all convened back at camp for an afternoon of field games, pool time, camp dinner and making s’mores; we even had a crew enjoy the amazing films from this year’s Maine Outdoor Film Festival selection. On Sunday the whole crew ventured out in the rain (and cold) and had a blast with the amazing Adventure Bound staff cruising down the Kennebec River! Spring Thing is a great way for Outing Clubs across Maine to come together and experience the amazing outdoor beauty of The Forks! A special thanks to our partners at Adventure Bound, Maine Huts & Trails, Maine Outdoor Film Festival (MOFF), Maine Path & Paddle Guides and the Bowdoin Outing Club!
